  1. Goals: It’s very important to establish your goals at the beginning, because that is what helps you set the tone of your social channels. It helps you know and communicates the right things, keeping in sync with your end goals. It’s extremely important to know what is it that you wish to achieve through your social channels – provided you don’t want the efforts to be a waste!
  2. Platforms: With the number of social media channels available, it can get extremely overwhelming! You could first begin with the most basic platforms – and then get on to finding out more about your target audience. Once you know, you can slowly start targeting those platforms, and in turn your potential customers/clients.
  3. Audience: You need to know your ideal customer – age, occupation, passions, motives, income group, etc. Only once you have identified this can you target them. For example, if you wish to drive traffic to your website – your call to action needs to communicate this. Also, another important thing is you need to continuously measure the results – to understand and know if you’re on the right track.
  4. Content: While this may seem insignificant to many, it’s actually the most important aspect of social media success. If your content falls flat, so will your strategy! Just always remember this. After all, “Content is King” is not just a saying!
  5. Engagement: While you may get everything right, most strategies fail when the brand fails to communicate with its customers or audience. Remember, your audience must feel involved, at all times!
  6. Results: While you may see the likes and comments and think your social channels are doing great – it’s not proven until you measure the results, and check the returns. Great strategies must convert to great returns!
